Well, if anyone remembers the old Lakewood fairgrounds, it is I. This familiar building is all that is left, and it appears that the landscape is now rented as a movie studio. During the 1940s through about 1970, when it shut down, Lakewood was a familiar retreat for families. This is the site of a 2950 ft rollercoaster, the most dangerous contraption known to man (at the time) sat in its metal splendor, daring children to ride. Yet, even when it was condemned, it still glistened in the sun and took on all darers. Lakewood was a carnival atmosphere, with rifle booths, coin tosses, and good ole cotton candy! Those were the days.
