Atlanta Cotton Factory

Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill, Cabbagetown (DeKalb Avenue)
The Atlanta Cotton Factory opened its doors on July 1, 1879. A large crowd gathered to celebrate and at four o'clock a brass band played "Hail to the Chief". After that, the owner, H. I. Kimball strutted through the factory gates, flanked by Governor Alfred Colquitt, Mayor William Calhoun and former Governors Joseph E. Brown and Benjamin Conley.
